Phillip Haggerty II, M.D. graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor in Science in Biology and Philosophy with contributions from Texas A&M, The University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and Universit├Ąt Wien in Austria. He received his Master degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Northwestern University. He has conducted graduate level research in wound healing, tissue regeneration, enzyme systems analysis, receptor function and physiology, organogenesis, and organ culture. He is also a CLIA Certified Laboratory Director.

He attended The University of Alabama School of Medicine before doing a categorical residency at The University of South Florida in Anesthesiology. He is board certified by both The American Board of Anesthesiology and The American Board of Pain Medicine with memberships in The American Society of Anesthesiologists, The Tennessee Society of Anesthesiologists, The Tennessee Medical Association, The Southern Pain Society, The Tennessee Pain Society, The American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and The Tennessee Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Beyond science and medicine, Dr. Haggerty enjoys dogs, horses, sailboats (small craft), and the study of history.

Dr. Haggerty truly enjoys the specialty practice of pain management as an academic and professional pursuit. He believes it is not enough just to do the right thing: It must be done correctly.
